Amish plushwork, also known as Geman stumpwork or chenille work is a traditional form of embroidery associated with the Amish communities of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The technique employs stitching several layers of yarn, using the surface satin stitch, over a special tin template. You don't need to be an accomplished embroiderer to produce amazing results and when you do the snipping open, it's the best thing ever!
Included in the price you get a 2-hour zoom workshop with no more than 10 participants, everything you need to make 2 plushwork designs which can be turned into pincushions or whatever you fancy, detailed instructions and light refreshments! Even postage is included in the price. The session is suitable for everyone from total beginners to those who are confident with a sewing needle and fancy trying something a little bit different! (Head over to the Makers' Gallery to see what's been produced in previous sessions.)
Once you book the workshop you will be sent your kit in the post and emailed all details for the zoom session. If you have never used Zoom before, don't be nervous. It's really simple and we can arrange a quick tutorial so you can have a practice before the big day!
PLEASE CHECK THE DATE AND TIME CAREFULLY WHEN YOU BOOK
Bookings will close 7 days prior to the event to ensure there is enough time to get kits posted out.
Please note that the shades may vary slightly from the pictures. Colours for the keyrings will be picked at random.
